Authorities escalate coordinated campaign against online gambling and scam networks tied to Shwe Kokko and KK Park, reinforcing cross-border cooperation and national security priorities.
The Government of Myanmar has reported significant new progress in its nationwide effort to eliminate online fraud and illegal gambling operations concentrated in the Shwe Kokko and KK Park regions. In its latest announcement, the Ministry of Information confirmed that joint security units, administrative authorities and local enforcement teams demolished six additional illegal buildings on Wednesday as part of an ongoing dismantling campaign.
According to the ministry, the structures targeted in this most recent phase consisted of one four-storey complex, two two-storey buildings and three single-storey units. Each property was allegedly being used as a base for online scam operations and unlicensed gambling activities, which have proliferated in the region over recent years due to criminal networks connected to transnational fraud. With these demolitions, Myanmar authorities have now dismantled 525 of the 635 illegal facilities previously identified within KK Park alone, marking a decisive step toward reclaiming control of the area.
In addition to structural demolitions, officials stated that several buildings destroyed by heavy machinery earlier this month have undergone further eradication through controlled burning operations that began on 14 December. Five more two-storey structures were eliminated through this method, bringing the total number of completely destroyed properties to 76. The ministry emphasized that this approach is necessary to prevent the properties from being repurposed by criminal groups.
The crackdown also extends to confiscated assets. Equipment, documents and technical infrastructure connected to online scam syndicates and illicit gambling enterprises were burned on-site to ensure permanent disposal. Authorities said these items represent essential tools for digital fraud networks, including servers, communication devices and payment routing equipment.
Government representatives reaffirmed that eliminating online fraud and illegal gambling is considered a national security priority. Officials described the effort as a responsibility shared across institutions and pledged to continue collaboration with domestic partners, security agencies and neighboring governments. Cross-border cooperation is seen as essential due to the international dimensions of the networks operating in Shwe Kokko and KK Park.
As the operation continues, further demolitions are anticipated. Investigatory teams are currently conducting assessments of remaining properties and pursuing legal action against individuals suspected of involvement in the illegal activities. The Ministry indicated that additional enforcement measures will be announced as new milestones are reached.
