EaseMyTrip, one of India’s leading online travel platforms, has firmly denied all allegations linking its Founder and Chairman Nishant Pitti to the high-profile Mahadev betting app scandal. The company issued an official statement following media reports that suggested Pitti is under investigation for suspected ties to Sky Exchange, an illegal betting platform reportedly connected to the Mahadev network.
Company Labels Allegations as Baseless and Misleading
In its response, EaseMyTrip categorically dismissed the claims as “baseless, misleading and devoid of factual merit.” The company stated that Mr. Pitti has no direct or indirect involvement with any illegal betting operations or with entities associated with the Mahadev app.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had reportedly suspected that EaseMyTrip may have made payments to shell companies allegedly tied to the betting racket, and that stock price manipulation could have occurred through illicit financial channels. These allegations emerged as part of a broader investigation into the Mahadev online betting scam, which has drawn scrutiny from regulatory and law enforcement agencies across India.
EaseMyTrip Reaffirms Legal Compliance and Corporate Integrity
In response, EaseMyTrip emphasized its commitment to corporate governance and legal compliance, stating that all operations are conducted transparently and within the bounds of law. “We maintain high standards of corporate governance and comply fully with all applicable laws and regulations,” the company noted in its public statement.
It further confirmed its cooperation with investigative authorities, reinforcing its commitment to a thorough and transparent review of the facts.
Clarifies Share Transactions Amid Market Speculation
Addressing specific claims about financial irregularities, EaseMyTrip clarified that two entities independently purchased shares of the company on the open market in May 2021. These shareholders received dividends in December 2021, consistent with standard corporate procedure. The company stressed that no further financial transactions or affiliations exist between these entities and EaseMyTrip or Nishant Pitti.
The firm expressed concern that such allegations misrepresent the facts and harm public trust, both in its brand and its leadership.
Looking Ahead: Transparency and Accountability
The Mahadev betting scandal has sent ripples through the business and legal communities, with authorities continuing to investigate financial connections between mainstream enterprises and the underground betting world. Amidst this backdrop, EaseMyTrip’s prompt and detailed response signals a strong effort to protect its reputation and clarify its stance.
As scrutiny continues, the company has assured stakeholders that it will remain fully transparent and uphold its responsibilities to the law, investors, and customers alike.
