Support underscores PAGCOR’s commitment to humanitarian and disaster response efforts
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has awarded ₱6.9 million (approx. $122,700) in cash incentives to 138 Filipino responders who took part in a humanitarian mission to earthquake-stricken Myanmar in March 2025.
Each responder received ₱50,000 during a turnover ceremony held on 4 July 2025 at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, where representatives from the military, PAGCOR, and various government agencies gathered to recognise the personnel’s courageous contributions.
Responders Acknowledged for Life-Saving Work in Naypyidaw
The Philippine Inter-Agency Humanitarian Contingent (PIAHC), comprised of personnel from the Office of Civil Defence (OCD), Department of Health (DOH), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), was deployed on 1 April 2025 to support Myanmar’s emergency response following the devastating earthquake.
Over the course of a 12-day mission, the team established a Type 1 Fixed Field Hospital in Pyinmana, Naypyidaw, where they provided medical care to over 1,000 patients. In addition to critical care services, the contingent played a significant role in search-and-rescue coordination, reinforcing local capacity amid overwhelmed medical and emergency systems.
A Pattern of Responsive Support from PAGCOR
This recent gesture follows PAGCOR’s consistent track record in supporting humanitarian missions. In 2023, the agency donated ₱4.1 million to Filipino responders who aided relief operations in Türkiye following a major earthquake. More recently, in June 2025, PAGCOR donated ₱20 million worth of medical transport vehicles to underserved regions across the Philippines, expanding its reach beyond emergency response to systemic health access.
Official Recognition and Broader Impact
Receiving the plaque of appreciation from the Department of National Defence (DND) on behalf of PAGCOR was SVP Raul Villanueva, with military officials publicly commending the agency for its unwavering support of civil defense operations.
Lt. Col. Erwen Diploma, one of the mission commanders, stated, “This support from PAGCOR is a strong message that the efforts of Filipino humanitarian responders are valued and recognised.”
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco added, “We honour not just your bravery, but the compassion that defines Filipino humanitarian missions.”
A Broader CSR Strategy Rooted in Service
PAGCOR’s assistance in Myanmar is a reflection of its wider corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, which prioritises disaster response, education, and healthcare access. As one of the Philippines’ largest contributors to public welfare initiatives, PAGCOR continues to demonstrate that its mandate extends well beyond gaming regulation—anchoring its operations in public service, resilience, and global solidarity.
Through strategic partnerships with national agencies and frontline responders, PAGCOR ensures that the Philippines remains a key player in regional humanitarian leadership, prepared not just to face its own disasters, but to stand in solidarity with neighboring nations in crisis.
