A Human-Centered Initiative for Vulnerable Communities
The Loterie Nationale de Guinée (LONAGUI) has reinforced its commitment to social responsibility through a landmark initiative aimed at improving the lives of Guineans living with limb loss. On January 29, 2026, the national lottery operator provided tailored prosthetic limbs to vulnerable beneficiaries, marking a significant step in its broader mission to support social inclusion, dignity, and community well-being.
The initiative was carried out in partnership with the humanitarian organisation Aide aux Couches Sociales Fragiles (ACOSOF-Guinée) and reflects LONAGUI’s growing focus on impactful, long-term social programmes that address real and pressing needs within the population.
Rigorous Selection and Personalised Medical Support
Beneficiaries were selected through a thorough and collaborative process involving LONAGUI, ACOSOF-Guinée, and certified orthopaedic specialists. Each candidate underwent comprehensive medical evaluations to determine suitability and ensure that the prosthetic devices matched their specific physical and medical requirements.
The prostheses were custom-fitted to maximise comfort, mobility, and long-term usability. Beyond the equipment itself, beneficiaries received training on proper use and maintenance, rehabilitation support, and continuous psychological and social assistance designed to help them regain independence and reintegrate fully into their communities.
Official Handover at the National Orthopaedics Centre
The official handover ceremony took place at the National Centre for Orthopaedics in Donka, bringing together beneficiaries, family members, healthcare professionals, NGO representatives, and institutional partners. The event highlighted the collaborative nature of the project and its shared goal of restoring mobility and hope to individuals facing physical and social challenges.
According to ACOSOF-Guinée President Dr. Pépé Tohonamou, the project was carefully structured to deliver meaningful and sustainable outcomes. He explained that beneficiaries were selected based on vulnerability criteria and received personalised solutions adapted to their type of amputation, including femoral and tibial prostheses.
CSR Vision Aligned With National Priorities
Jackeline Coker, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at LONAGUI, explained that the initiative originated from a deeply human moment—a direct request for assistance from a beneficiary whose prosthesis had become unusable. While LONAGUI cannot provide individual donations as a public institution, the case prompted internal reflection and led to the development of a broader, structured programme benefiting multiple vulnerable individuals.
She noted that the project aligns closely with the vision of LONAGUI’s leadership and national priorities promoted by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mamadi Doumbouya, particularly in the areas of social solidarity and inclusive development.
A Long-Term Commitment to Social Impact
Through this prosthetic support initiative, LONAGUI has demonstrated how national lottery institutions can play a meaningful role beyond gaming, contributing directly to social development. By restoring mobility, confidence, and dignity, the programme represents a powerful example of how corporate social responsibility can deliver tangible, life-changing impact for vulnerable communities in Guinea.
