New Identity Marks Strategic Shift to Focus Solely on Lottery Operations
International Game Technology (IGT), a global giant in gambling technology, is set to undergo a significant transformation. Following the sale of its Gaming and Digital businesses, IGT will rebrand as Brightstar Lottery starting 1 July 2025, marking its evolution into a standalone lottery-focused enterprise. This strategic pivot aligns the company with an increasingly digitized and diversified gaming landscape.
The sale was made to Voyager Parent, a company owned by Apollo Global Management, which also recently acquired Everi in a $6.3 billion deal. The forthcoming merger of Everi and IGT’s former gaming assets reflects a broader industry trend of corporate consolidation and brand restructuring, mirroring moves by companies like Scientific Games, which split its business and rebranded its gaming division as Light & Wonder.
Brightstar Lottery: A Global Pure-Play Lottery Powerhouse
Under its new identity, Brightstar will emerge as a pure-play lottery operator and supplier, emphasizing transparency, innovation, and digital transformation. The company will continue to deliver a full spectrum of lottery services—including instant tickets, draw games, systems, and interactive platforms—to a global network of 90 lotteries across six continents.
Notably, Brightstar’s technological footprint includes 26 out of the 46 regulated US lottery jurisdictions, underscoring its dominance in the North American market. The company recently expanded further with a supplier license in the United Arab Emirates, marking its continued push into emerging regions.
The name Brightstar was chosen to symbolize the company’s role as a “guiding light” in the lottery industry, with ambitions to drive both responsible growth and community impact through its partnerships with national and state-run lotteries.
Leadership Vision: Innovation Anchored in Legacy
CEO Vince Sadusky highlighted the rebrand as both a symbolic and operational milestone. “With nearly 50 years of reliability and leadership in the lottery space, Brightstar represents our forward-looking approach to help lottery partners thrive amid rapid digital change and evolving player behavior,” he stated.
Executive Chair Marco Sala echoed this sentiment, positioning Brightstar as a company poised to deliver long-term value to both its clients and the communities they serve: “Brightstar will be well-positioned to grow the lottery business responsibly while driving player engagement and supporting good causes.”
Conclusion: A Future-Focused Evolution for a Legacy Brand
The rebranding of IGT to Brightstar Lottery signifies more than a name change—it signals a focused business strategy tailored to the digital age. With a strong legacy and expansive global footprint, Brightstar is entering the market as a specialist lottery operator with a renewed commitment to innovation, integrity, and public benefit.
As the gaming sector continues to evolve, Brightstar aims to be a beacon of trust and innovation, setting the standard for lottery operations worldwide.
