Former Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairman Brings Deep Regulatory Expertise
Codere Online has announced the appointment of A.G. Burnett as the new Chairman of its Compliance Committee, a key development emerging from the company’s recently held annual general meeting. Burnett will assume the position effective 1 July 2025, succeeding Mark Dunn, whose contributions to the committee were formally acknowledged by the board.
This strategic appointment comes at a time when regulatory integrity and corporate governance are increasingly under scrutiny across the global iGaming industry. Burnett brings over two decades of legal and regulatory experience, highlighted by his leadership as Chairman and Executive Director of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB)—one of the world’s most influential regulatory agencies.
Deep Regulatory and Legal Expertise
Beyond his tenure with the NGCB, Burnett has served in senior roles across the Corporate Securities Division, acted as legal counsel for the Nevada Gaming Commission, and now works as a partner at McDonald Carano, focusing on gaming law and compliance.
His broader affiliations include active roles in educational and legal networks such as the International Masters of Gaming Law and UNLV’s Boyd School of Law Gaming Law Advisory Board, placing him at the intersection of policy, academia, and industry practice.
Joining Burnett on the Compliance Committee are Rafael Catalá and Yaiza Rodríguez, who will continue their service, reinforcing a governance team with robust industry knowledge and oversight credentials.
Compliance Strengthening Amid Nasdaq Recovery
The appointment also coincides with Codere Online’s confirmation that it has regained compliance with Nasdaq’s Listing Rule 5250(c)(1) after previously facing delisting risks. The delay had been tied to the late filing of its annual report with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)—a key regulatory requirement for publicly listed firms.
The company has now resolved the issue, with Nasdaq confirming that Codere Online’s securities will continue trading on the Nasdaq Capital Market, restoring investor confidence and signalling operational stability.
Market Expansion and Strategic Partnerships
Codere Online continues to pursue expansion across key markets, particularly in Spain and Latin America. Earlier this year, the operator partnered with Greentube, a NOVOMATIC Digital Gaming and Entertainment division, to introduce popular titles like Lucky Lady’s Charm deluxe, Book of Ra, and Sizzling Hot deluxe into the Spanish market.
This move aligns with Codere’s strategy to bolster its content portfolio and attract a wider user base in regulated territories.
Outlook: A Governance-First Approach
With Burnett at the helm of the Compliance Committee, Codere Online is doubling down on regulatory integrity, risk mitigation, and long-term corporate accountability. His extensive background in U.S. regulatory frameworks could be pivotal as Codere navigates a multi-jurisdictional gaming landscape, particularly as regulatory environments tighten in Europe and Latin America.
The appointment underscores the operator’s commitment to strengthening its governance infrastructure while continuing to scale its offerings across licensed markets—a crucial balance in today’s evolving digital gaming economy.
