New annual initiative will recognise five established industry icons and three emerging leaders ahead of ICE Barcelona 2027
WorldGaming has announced the launch of the ICE Global Hall of Fame, a new annual initiative designed to recognise individuals whose vision, achievements and leadership have played a significant role in shaping the international gaming industry.
The new programme will celebrate established figures who have made lasting contributions to gaming while also providing recognition to a new generation of professionals who are already influencing the sector’s future. The initiative is being positioned as a new annual highlight for the global gaming community.
Inaugural Hall of Fame Set for January 2027
The first ICE Global Hall of Fame will be unveiled during the WorldGaming Gala on Sunday, January 17, 2027, immediately ahead of ICE Barcelona.
The timing is intended to create a prestigious opening moment for the international gaming community before the main industry event begins. ICE Barcelona is scheduled to take place from January 18–20, 2027, bringing together gaming operators, technology providers, regulators, suppliers and other industry stakeholders.
The Hall of Fame will subsequently become an annual programme, creating a dedicated platform for recognising professional achievement and leadership across the global gaming industry.
Five Industry Icons to Be Inducted
Each year, five established gaming professionals will be inducted into the ICE Global Hall of Fame.
Selection will be based on several factors, including career achievements, leadership, contribution to the gaming community and lasting impact on the industry.
The initiative is intended to recognise people who have helped transform gaming through innovation, challenged conventional approaches and contributed to the development of the sector.
Rather than focusing exclusively on commercial success, the programme will also consider the broader influence individuals have had on the gaming ecosystem.
Emerging Leaders to Receive Recognition
One of the most distinctive elements of the initiative is its focus on emerging talent.
Alongside the five established inductees, an independent judging panel made up of respected figures from the global gaming community will select three Emerging Legends.
These individuals may not have decades of experience in the industry, but will be recognised for their leadership, influence and achievements.
The inclusion of emerging professionals is designed to ensure that the Hall of Fame does not simply look back at the industry’s history but also identifies people who could play an important role in shaping its future.
Celebrating the People Behind Gaming’s Evolution
Margaret Dunn, Portfolio Director responsible for ICE and iGB Affiliate Barcelona, said the initiative was created to celebrate individuals who have made a transformative contribution to gaming while recognising leaders who are already helping to shape what comes next.
According to Dunn, the gaming industry is a dynamic and influential global entertainment sector, making it important to recognise the people who have contributed to its evolution.
The programme will therefore highlight professionals who have driven innovation, challenged established practices and championed progress across the industry.
ICE Barcelona as a Global Platform
The launch of the Hall of Fame also reflects the broader role of ICE Barcelona within the international gaming ecosystem.
ICE has become an important meeting point for companies, executives, technology innovators and other stakeholders seeking to understand emerging trends and developments across the sector.
The Hall of Fame will build on that role by recognising the people behind some of the industry’s most important developments.
Dunn noted that ICE is not only focused on current developments but also serves as a platform where new ideas are introduced and the industry’s future direction is debated.
Connecting Industry Heritage with the Future
By combining established figures with emerging leaders, WorldGaming is creating a recognition programme that connects the history of gaming with its future.
The five annual industry icons will represent individuals whose careers have already left a significant mark on the sector. Meanwhile, the three Emerging Legends will highlight professionals whose influence is developing and whose future contributions could become equally significant.
This structure gives the initiative a broader perspective than a conventional industry awards programme.
It recognises both the foundations on which today’s gaming industry has been built and the people who are likely to influence its next stage of development.
A New Annual Tradition
WorldGaming intends for the ICE Global Hall of Fame to become a permanent annual celebration of excellence, leadership and industry impact.
The programme could provide additional visibility for professionals whose contributions may otherwise receive limited recognition outside their companies or specific areas of expertise.
It also creates an opportunity for the wider gaming community to reflect on the people responsible for driving technological, commercial and cultural changes across the sector.
Looking Ahead to ICE Barcelona 2027
The inaugural Hall of Fame comes at a time when ICE Barcelona is itself expanding its focus on emerging technologies and the changing structure of the gaming industry.
For 2027, the event will include a dedicated Digital and FinTech Transformation Hall, covering areas such as artificial intelligence, data, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, payments, compliance and real-time customer engagement.
Against this backdrop, the ICE Global Hall of Fame adds a human dimension to the industry’s focus on innovation.
While technology and new business models continue to transform gaming, the initiative highlights the individuals whose decisions, leadership and ideas have helped drive that transformation.
With five established icons and three emerging leaders set to be recognised at the inaugural ceremony, the ICE Global Hall of Fame is positioned to become a significant annual fixture on the international gaming calendar.
Its launch ahead of ICE Barcelona 2027 will give the industry an opportunity not only to look at where gaming is heading, but also to recognise the people who have helped bring the sector to where it is today.
