Premier League dominance, accumulator culture and multi-vertical play define Nigerian sports betting trends
Logifuture, a leading global provider of iGaming and sports betting technology, has unveiled its first-ever Logifuture Wrapped, offering a detailed snapshot of sports betting behaviour drawn from its major partner brands. The inaugural edition focuses on Bet9ja, Nigeria’s largest sportsbook and casino operator, following what Logifuture described as a record-setting year for the brand.
Using aggregated annual data, Logifuture Wrapped 2025 reveals clear preferences among Nigerian bettors. Football remains the dominant driver of wagering activity, with the English Premier League (EPL) emerging as the most popular competition to bet on, ahead of Spain’s La Liga and Italy’s Serie A. Within the EPL, Liverpool attracted the highest share of bets, while Wolves were the least backed team.
The data also uncovered a sharp contrast between reputation-driven betting and actual value. Brentford was identified as the best-value EPL team when comparing odds to payouts, while Manchester United ranked as the worst value despite heavy backing. On a global level, however, Real Madrid stood out as the single most popular team to bet on across all markets.
Accumulator betting proved especially popular among Nigerian players. The average betslip contained 10.19 selections, highlighting a strong appetite for high-risk, high-reward wagering strategies.
Tom Beck, Logifuture’s Head of Content and Social Media, noted that the data reflects a mature and emotionally driven market. “Form and momentum matter more than legacy at the ticket window, but players still emotionally back global brands even when returns don’t justify it,” he said. “When players want certainty, they follow pedigree, and Real Madrid embodies that confidence.”
Beyond sportsbook betting, Bet9ja’s casino, virtual sports and proprietary products also delivered standout performances. Logifuture powers Bet9ja’s virtual offerings Simulate and Zoom Soccer, as well as betBOOM, a feature that randomly boosts betslip odds by up to 100x.
The biggest wins recorded in 2025 included N79.2 million (£40,900) in casino play, N58.7 million (£30,300) in sportsbook betting and N47.2 million (£24,400) via betBOOM. According to Logifuture, more than 10,000 players became millionaires in naira terms during the year.
“Our players are no longer specialists,” Beck added. “They’re portfolio operators, confidently moving across products. That diversity of wins shows how sophisticated and opportunity-driven the Nigerian betting market has become.”
