Showcase of tech-driven regulation garners attention from African gaming stakeholders
Italian software innovator iSolutions S.r.l. launched the Gaming Tech Summit Kenya with a powerful and forward-looking session centred on regulatory success in Malawi. Titled “Building a Transparent and Sustainable Gaming Market: The Malawi Experience,” the panel offered a clear-eyed examination of how effective tech integration and local governance can transform gaming oversight across Africa.
A High-Impact Panel on Regulation and Innovation
Moderated by Lucy Vivi, the session featured distinguished voices from both public and private sectors:
Rachel M. Mijiga, representing the Malawi Gaming & Lotteries Authority (MAGLA)
Ronald Sylvanus Derek Finney, from IGLMS
Manuele Carra, of iSolutions S.r.l.
Their combined insights painted a detailed picture of Malawi’s evolving gaming ecosystem, revealing how a developing market can harness digital tools to establish transparency, accountability, and long-term viability.
Malawi as a Regulatory Role Model
Malawi’s approach to gaming reform has attracted continental attention for its balanced implementation of smart surveillance systems and its insistence on transparent, localised policy enforcement. iSolutions’ technology has played a central role, providing government agencies with real-time tools to monitor betting activity and prevent fraud and unlicensed operations.
According to Rachel M. Mijiga, the integration of iSolutions’ systems has empowered regulators to make data-driven decisions, manage risk, and enhance public trust in the sector.
“Our collaboration with tech partners like iSolutions enables us to protect consumers while still encouraging private investment,” she remarked during the session.
Exporting Success: Lessons for Africa
Malawi’s progress is already influencing how other African countries approach gaming regulation. With markets in East and Southern Africa expanding rapidly, the importance of foundational frameworks and digital compliance has never been greater.
Manuele Carra of iSolutions emphasized that success lies in cooperation:
“Technology is only effective when matched with strong local leadership and a willingness to modernize. Malawi has proven that governments and private companies can align for the greater good.”
A Roadmap for the Future
As Kenya hosts a wide spectrum of gaming stakeholders this week, the opening session has set a high bar for meaningful dialogue. With Malawi positioned as a scalable case study, and iSolutions’ technology providing the architecture for progress, the summit has made clear that Africa’s gaming future will be defined not just by growth, but by governance.
The Gaming Tech Summit continues through the week, with additional panels focusing on AI integration, mobile-first strategies, and cross-border regulation.
