Data-driven rankings across 11 regulated markets highlight continental dominance, strong local champions, and the rising influence of analytics in African online gambling
The Blask Awards 2025 have named Betway, Bet9ja, Betika and several other leading operators as the top-performing online betting and casino brands across Africa, following a comprehensive analysis of market activity in 11 regulated jurisdictions. The awards, based on a full year of data from January 2025 to January 2026, evaluated operators on demand, market power and revenue potential, providing one of the most detailed snapshots yet of competitive performance in Africa’s fast-growing iGaming sector.
At a continental level, Betway emerged as the standout brand, securing the titles of Africa Operator of the Year and Africa Competitive Earning Baseline (CEB) Leader. The operator also dominated in South Africa, the region’s most mature regulated market, where it was named both Operator of the Year and CEB Leader, underlining its strong brand recognition, customer acquisition strength and commercial scale.
The Blask Awards covered regulated markets with more than 50 active online brands, including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Ghana, Ethiopia, Gabon and Benin. In Nigeria, one of Africa’s largest and most competitive betting markets, Bet9ja claimed both Operator of the Year and CEB Leader, reflecting its deep local roots and continued dominance in player engagement and market share. Kenya’s honours went to Betika, which maintained its leadership position in one of East Africa’s most dynamic betting environments.
Uganda and Zambia both saw betPawa achieve a rare double, winning Operator of the Year and CEB Leader in each country, while Zimbabwe’s top accolades were awarded to MWOS, highlighting the strength of homegrown brands in increasingly competitive national markets.
The awards also recognised product performance, with Aviator by Spribe named Game of the Year in South Africa, demonstrating the sustained popularity of crash-style games across African jurisdictions. In Nigeria, Gates of Olympus by Pragmatic Play received the top game honour, reflecting strong demand for high-volatility slot titles.
Blask’s methodology is built on proprietary analytics, combining its Blask Index, which measures real-time brand demand, with the Competitive Earning Baseline (CEB), a statistical model estimating realistic revenue potential in each market. By focusing exclusively on licensed operators and regulated environments, the rankings provide a clearer picture of true market power and sustainable performance.
The Blask Awards 2025 underline both the growing sophistication of Africa’s regulated iGaming markets and the increasing importance of data-driven benchmarking, as international giants and strong regional brands compete for leadership in one of the world’s fastest-expanding online gambling regions.
