Tech giant sharpens focus on growing online gambling sector with strategic hire
Fujitsu has announced the appointment of Sammi Abdulla as its new Business Development Manager for iGaming. Abdulla brings a wealth of expertise in technology solutions and iGaming operations, positioning Fujitsu to strengthen its footprint in one of the fastest-growing global digital markets.
A Strategic Move into iGaming
The appointment reflects Fujitsu’s increasing recognition of the iGaming sector’s demand for cutting-edge IT infrastructure, cybersecurity solutions, cloud computing, and data analytics services. With global iGaming revenues projected to surpass $127 billion by 2027, according to a report by Statista, technology providers are racing to meet operators’ needs for scalable, secure, and regulatory-compliant platforms.
Abdulla, who boasts over a decade of business development experience across tech and gambling verticals, will focus on crafting bespoke solutions for online sportsbooks, casinos, and lottery operators.
His remit will cover both established jurisdictions such as the UK and Malta, as well as emerging markets in Latin America and Africa, regions experiencing rapid liberalization of gambling laws.
Leveraging Fujitsu’s Technology Strengths
Fujitsu, globally renowned for its enterprise IT services, aims to leverage its strength in AI, machine learning, and hybrid cloud environments to support operators in optimizing customer experience, responsible gaming compliance, and real-time risk management. In a statement, Abdulla emphasized that his priority would be “to align Fujitsu’s technology capabilities with the rapidly evolving needs of modern iGaming businesses.”
Industry Response and Outlook
Industry analysts view the move as timely, with iGaming operators increasingly prioritizing robust IT infrastructure to handle large transaction volumes, mitigate fraud, and ensure data protection. Abdulla’s appointment is expected to accelerate Fujitsu’s partnerships with both B2B software providers and front-end gaming operators in the coming years.
