Financial assistance to a student at Monrovia School for the Deaf highlights the authority’s continued focus on education, social inclusion and community support.
Liberia’s National Lottery Authority (NLA) has provided L$16,750 in financial assistance to Ujay Shanennon, a student at the Monrovia School for the Deaf, reinforcing the authority’s commitment to supporting inclusive education and vulnerable members of society.
The assistance was presented on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the school in the Old Road Community. The intervention is intended to help Shanennon meet educational and other school-related expenses as he continues his studies.
The financial support was delivered through the NLA’s Management, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department and Social Welfare Unit, reflecting the authority’s broader approach to using its social programmes to support individuals and communities facing challenges.
NLA highlights importance of accessible education
Presenting the assistance on behalf of NLA Management, Watson Yeanue, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, highlighted the importance of education in creating opportunities and strengthening individual capacity.
According to the NLA, education should remain accessible to all members of society, including people who may face additional barriers because of disabilities or other circumstances.
The authority’s intervention at the Monrovia School for the Deaf therefore forms part of its wider efforts to promote social inclusion through practical assistance.
The NLA emphasised that people living with disabilities should not be excluded from opportunities to acquire knowledge, develop their talents and participate meaningfully in society.
Through its CSR and Social Welfare programmes, the authority continues to identify areas where targeted assistance can provide meaningful support to individuals and institutions.
