Strategic Comeback After Two Decades
Merkur Gaming US, a subsidiary of the global Merkur Group, has made a significant return to the United States gaming industry after a 20-year absence. The company has received official approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission to manufacture and distribute gaming equipment within the state — marking a pivotal step in Merkur’s long-term international strategy.
Merkur was previously licensed in Nevada in 1998 but exited the US market in the early 2000s. The new license grants Merkur access to one of the world’s largest and most regulated casino markets, underscoring its commitment to re-establishing a strong presence in North America.
Acquisition of Gaming Arts LLC Approved
In addition to the manufacturing license, the Nevada Gaming Commission has approved Merkur Group’s acquisition of Gaming Arts LLC, a Las Vegas-based gaming provider. The deal, which is expected to finalize in Q3 2025, positions Merkur to expand its operational base and product portfolio significantly in the US.
Gaming Arts is a well-established company in the American gaming sector, holding licenses in more than 155 jurisdictions. The acquisition not only brings new technology and intellectual property under Merkur’s umbrella but also enhances its footprint in a competitive market.
Leadership Highlights Long-Term Vision
Michael Gauselmann, Chairman of Merkur Group’s Supervisory Board, commented on the development:
“With approval from Nevada, this moment serves to highlight and underscore the Merkur Group’s legally compliant and forward-looking approach in all areas without exception.”
Lars Felderhoff, Chairman of the Management Board, added:
“This license represents a key strategic lever for expanding our international business and lays the foundation for a stable and successful long-term future for the entire Group.”
Global Presence and Renewed U.S. Focus
Merkur Group is currently active in over 90 countries, and the Nevada re-entry aligns with broader global expansion goals. The move reflects a growing trend among European gaming firms establishing operations in the highly-regulated U.S. environment.
The timing also coincides with other industry developments — such as Kambi’s recent approval to offer sportsbook technology in Nevada — reinforcing the state’s continued prominence as a hub for regulated gaming.
Merkur’s dual win with a Nevada license and strategic acquisition reaffirms its vision to be a global leader in gaming innovation and compliance.
